The main purpose of this course is to act as a bridge to intermediate level courses by giving students opportunities to improve their oral fluency. New vocabulary will be introduced and students will be given maximum opportunities to practice improving what they have already learned, and to become comfortable speaking in paragraphs, not just sentences.

The purpose of this course is to improve students’ speaking ability by learning how people actually use English. Students will learn conversation management strategies, with special emphasis on vocabulary and vocabulary-learning strategies. Grammar is presented in natural contexts, and speaking and listening is emphasized. In addition to in-class practice, students will have assignments in CALL.
